MonaLisa Touch is an innovative laser procedure designed to treat vaginal symptoms and urinary incontinence. During the procedure, your specialist uses a wand tool that applies gentle laser energy to the inside of your vagina; this stimulates cell growth and promotes the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that strengthen skin. The treatment also enhances blood flow to your cells, which increases moisture and vaginal health.
If you’re suffering from vaginal discomfort because of menopause or after childbirth, you can benefit from treatment with MonaLisa Touch.
MonaLisa Touch helps many women find relief from the following symptoms.
By improving these symptoms, MonaLisa Touch can reduce pain during intercourse, and, in some cases, restore sensation and enhance sexual pleasure.
MonaLisa Touch is a non-surgical procedure that is performed right in the Suncoast Women’s Care office. Sessions typically last less than five minutes. Before beginning treatment with MonaLisa Touch, you’ll need to have a consultation and a gynecologic exam so your provider can design a treatment plan that meets your individual needs.
The MonaLisa Touch procedure is similar to a pelvic ultrasound. You’ll recline with your feet in stirrups, and your experienced provider will gently insert the wand tool into your vagina. You’ll feel a mild warmth, and you may experience a tingling sensation, but the treatment usually isn’t painful. If you’re concerned about discomfort, you can ask your provider for a topical anesthetic cream, which is applied shortly before treatment begins.
Your vagina might feel a little sensitive after your session, and you may have some mild redness or swelling. These symptoms usually subside within two days. You should avoid sexual intercourse for at least 36 hours, and be sure to follow your specialist's instructions for aftercare following treatment.
You may experience improvement in your symptoms after your first session. For most women, at least three sessions spaced about six weeks apart provide optimal results. Typically, yearly maintenance treatments are recommended. Your Suncoast Women’s Care provider may suggest you have maintenance treatments more frequently, depending on your individual needs.
